How to Host an Awesome St. Patrick’s Day Party

St. Patrick’s Day is one of the most fun holidays of the year for many people – when else can you don green and drink beer with breakfast…and it be considered socially acceptable?

Throwing a party is the best way to celebrate this official Christian feast day, but don’t rely on the luck of the Irish! Make sure to plan ahead using our ideas for hosting an awesome St. Patrick’s Day party:

A Feast of Food

The day’s glutinous festivities are to commemorate Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. The most suitable Irish dish to serve up to your guests this day is by far, Corned Beef.

But, instead of pairing your beef with solely cabbage, try this new take on the traditional plate from Martha Stewart. In this recipe, cabbage is supplemented with turnips, carrots and boiled potatoes. Not only will these extra ingredients add immense color to your dish, but they will also invigorate the flavor – this is going to be the wow factor for your guests!

Festive Table Centerpiece

St. Patrick’s Day is a difficult holiday for deciding on a centerpiece idea. Spreading four-leaf clovers over the table just isn’t going to cut it!

We love this Pot-of-Gold idea from Pinterest user Liz Allen:

Liz painted a 3″ terra-cotta pot in wrought iron black using a sponge brush. After letting it dry, she tied a green ribbon around the pot and glued 1 1/2” and 1 1/4” green paper shaped out of a four-leaf clover onto the bow (you could substitute four-leaf clover stickers for the paper).

Then, she filled the pot with neutral colored shred and topped it off with gold-wrapped Ferrero Rocher candies (feel free to use Hershey Kisses instead)!

This is a fun, unique centerpiece perfect for indoor or even for outdoor parties. The pot syncs wells with an outdoor setting.

Treats for the Kids

If little leprechauns will be running around the house on St. Patrick’s Day, keep them energized with sweet treats like these rainbow licorice and marshmallows! Children and adults alike will enjoy these!

But, if you’re throwing a party just for the kids, these will make for great goody bags, too!

If you’re hosting your St. Patrick’s Day party outside, Fifthroom.com has the perfect outdoor spaces, like Ramadas, Gazebos, and Pergolas that will give your guests tons of room to socialize and celebrate!
