What To Do With Cardboard

Do you have cardboard? Do you have kids that need a project to do since school is out soon? Well, look what I found while cruising the information superhighway… Cardboard heaven!

TipJunkie.com is a favorite hangout of mine on this highway; Laurie finds the greatest projects. This post I found has 32 things to make using a cardboard box. 32 – Who knew!?

I played a LOT of games with boxes as a kid: for example, turning them into a bike fixing shop (yes, really), a Japanese home, and a carnival booth.  This ice-cream parlor really looks awesome; It even has “faux” food!!  There are step by step directions on how to make this; I do believe some colorful duct tape was used on this one!

I am TOTALLY fascinated by this site called “TinkerLab” creative experiments for kids. They have the most incredible projects and challenges around.  For cardboard, they have the Cardboard Box Challenge: give the kids a “box of goodies” and watch the magic begin! Click here to see of what one child did with the box on the left. I would love to watch this play out with a group of kids!

And who can resist a cardboard pizza?   The kids will have a blast adding toppings and making their favorites. Who knows… maybe you can build a cardboard oven for it too! This link gives you directions on putting together the Pizza Making party (Don’t you think this will be great for a birthday party activity?)

And for children a bit older (or maybe the parents), I love these modular building blocks – insanely creative. I love the wall best!

Did you craft with cardboard as a kid? How about now? Go ahead and Google “cardboard crafts” and plan some quality time using the information highway. Tell me what you find… I want to know!

Hi, Pat! LIke the new neighborhood! CARDBOARD BOXES…I HEART THEM! I did as a little girl but I might crawl in one now if I had the opportunity. I created my own apartment complete with television on the wall (showing the emergency broadcast test pattern because I was only a so-so artist) and a corvette. Different boxes, of course.
