The trees have almost lost their leaves.   There is a chill in the air.  The sun is setting earlier.  There is no denying that winter is almost here.  One of my favorite things about winter is getting to snuggle up under a warm blanket.  I am a huge advocate of keeping blankets in just about every room in the house because you never know when you’re going to find yourself in need of a cozy blanket to keep you toasty warm.  Of course, just keeping blankets out in the open is not always feasible.  So here are a few ideas for blanket storage to work with just about any décor.

Use a storage ottoman.  You can find ottomans that offer storage in just about every color under the sun, and in styles that range from traditional to contemporary.  They are a great choice for storing extra blankets if your space is limited.  And they offer additional seating as well – a win/win situation.

Use a hope chest.  If your style tends more toward the traditional, a hope chest is a wonderful way to store a number of cozy blankets.  A hope chest is perfect for a family room where it can store blankets as well as games or other entertainment items.

Make a dresser do double duty.  Don’t feel that you have to relegate a dresser just to the bedroom.  Oh no!  Dressers are a perfect addition to just about any room, and they offer oodles of storage options including a great place to stash those extra blankets during the colder months.
