As people who make things we are ALL about the color.. as in COLOR is everything! So when I saw Alison’s project project I was excited! COLOR.. in a book.. and made easy enough for kids to do! Each page the name of the color then fabric and trims in that color. She has a step by step tutorial… I want to make one! You could easily do this with all paper and other fun items.
So that project got me to looking around for another color project. And found two! First is this color using paint chips… I like it! No directions, but I think you can figure it out.
And the other was this line up of Chalk spray bottles. I can imagine a rainbow of super fun colors for kids to use this summer.. and it’s easy! Click the photo above for the recipe
So that got me to thinking about the “idea Journals” that I make. I describe them in my “Take the Fear out of Color” book. I take magazine photos, advertisements.. etc.. and then I made a color collage. Sometimes they are for fun, sometimes, like this photo, I use it to make a quilt! Here i wanted a blue and white quilt with a little bit of another color. I found that ‘other color’ in the t shirt. So you see after i found lots of blue and white photos, I found blue and white and GREEN fabrics… take that page shopping for fabric or papers or even paints!
Have you done a project based on playing with a single color? Maybe a focused use of color?
