Tree House Design Ideas for the Forever Young

When most adults discuss ‘outdoor living’ and the spaces that make this experience great, tree houses and tree forts don’t usually come to mind. But, a tree house can serve as a playhouse not only for kids, but for adults too!

I haven’t really thought much about tree houses since I was 8-years-old, but tree houses serve the same purpose that other outdoor structures like Gazebos, Pergolas and Ramadas do. And, they are unique since everyone doesn’t own one in their backyard!

Tree House Design Ideas and Why You Should Build One

  1. The Great Escape

Carbondale Architects and Green Line Architects built this rustic tree house in Denver, CO. It’s a whimsical mini house built in the trees!

Now, this is somewhere I could escape to and take time to read a good book and drink a cup of coffee. The tree house’s enclosed space provides privacy in a world where privacy is sometimes hard to find.

And, as you can see from this photo, this is definitely where mom and dad hang out!

  1. Forever Young

Just climbing up to this tree house looks like it would be an adventure in and of itself! Spending time in a tree house means going on an adventure and having fun – it’s like you are forever young. And, since many adults do not have a tree house, your friends and family will appreciate your unique backyard retreat!

  1. Play Time

Tree houses are also a great spot to hang out with some friends and family if you’re feeling social. Playing and letting go is what tree houses were originally built for! Bring out the kid inside yourself and plan a play date with your closest buds. A different setting than the neighborhood bar or your living room is a healthy change of pace that will have everyone excited for the big day!

Make this hangout even more special by planning a themed celebration. Gain some inspiration from this video showing people having a blast in their tree house playing video games and dancing.

  1. Decorate Inside and Out

A tree house’s structure is similar to a home’s structure, so don’t be afraid to string lights outside from tree to house or from one side of the roof to the other. Furnish the inside however you like.

The interior design can match the style of your home, but what’s fun about that? We recommend you have fun with designing the interiors of your tree house! A popular theme is to go rustic with the addition of feminine touches here and there, like a chandelier.

And, when it comes time to decide on comfortable, modern furniture for your tree house, turn to Fifthroom.com. Our Teak Port Sofa and Table Collection is simply beautiful and is so comfortable – you could take a nap on it!
