Inexpensive Ideas to Brighten Up Your Summer Space

Summer is drawing to a close, but that doesn’t mean that you have to let go of that summer feeling.  There’s still time to add a little bit of summer to your décor with these quick and inexpensive ideas.

Nothing says summer like bright and cheerful colors.  So perk up your space with a little bit of unexpected color.  An easy way to do this is to buy a fun set of colorful sheets for you bed.  My daughter’s bed looks sedate on the outside, but look again.  Colorful and bright polka dots peek out from underneath her summer-white quilt bringing a smile to her face and keeping that warm-weather feeling alive.

Or try this easy and inexpensive idea to add color to a small wall without the commitment of paint or wallpaper.  Simply use a staple gun to apply wrapping paper (yes, I did say wrapping paper) to your walls for a fresh new look on a dime.  The great thing about this temporary fix is that it can be switched out with the seasons so that you can enjoy the bright colors of summer, but you can also have the moodier colors of fall or the warm colors of winter with just a little bit of elbow grease.

Probably the most iconic of all summer images, the seashell is a perfect  – and perfectly inexpensive – way to bring the sunny season inside and to savor those last remaining days of warmth.  You don’t actually have to go to the beach to acquire these summer staples either.  They are readily available at most craft stores.  Purchase a bag full of seashells, or grab a few starfish.  Add them to jars, bowls, or baskets, frame a starfish, or simply scatter them about.  Whichever way you choose, you’ll be dreaming of the beach and the summer sun every time you see them.

So what are you waiting for?  Use these quick and inexpensive ideas to add some summer to your décor before those lazy, hazy days slip away!
