Arm Candy

It starts out very innocent… a charm bracelet. You might have received one as a child. I did. My parents added charms from countries we went to. Charms for things that meant something to me. But little did they know this arm candy was just the beginning.

My love of bracelets has grown over the years and now I collect tutorials and ideas for ones I can make myself (although I am known to own quite a large collection on Brighton Beads and other yummy things to wear on my arm!)

Amy rocks the bracelet tutorials starting with this bangle that has a happy little party pennants going all around it… how adorable is this?

This lovely is a tutorial at tatertots and jello during the “Housewife Bliss Holiday Party.”  Now, first of all, this is a party I want to go to!  Who wouldn’t have fun glamming it up with these flowers? Put them on a bangle like this, or a pin, the front of your shoes, or on a hair piece! I’m making them.. like right now… let’s go have a party!  Be sure to click the image and visit the site,as there are several variations. It’s a no-sewing project too. Can you say “pass the glue?”

I saved the most clever until last. This looks super difficult, but you’ll see in the tutorial that it’s not hard at all. More glue, a little thread and a chain bracelet you can buy at any store is all you need.  Work some magic and more arm candy is made… by you!

Do you own a charm bracelet? I want to know!

Yes, you bet! I have a charm bracelet. It’s one I had in high school and sometimes I just get it out and look at it for the fun of it. I do have a thing for bracelets. Love to make them from beads and have made them from polymer clay, too. My favorite bracelts are some vintage rhinestone and pearl pieces that my mother gave me. They make me think of Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russel in “Gentleman Prefer Blondes” and singing “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend”. Love it!

I do not own a charm braclet. I did start one for my daughter when she was born 11 years ago. Her braclet has charms for every place that we lived since she was born & special charms for likes and activites that she enjoys.

My parents started one for me 40 yrs ago; like you they would gift me with charms for every conceivable celebration and whenever they traveled which was often. I was getting tired of ALWAYS getting charms. Mom seemed to find the neatest ones; ones with moving parts esp were a favorite for her. I had it appraised 30 yrs ago and it was worth $1200!!! My bracelet is 4 rings in width so alot of charms can fit…it is too full really. I never wear it as so many people always ask to see it and I have to take it off because it is rather embarrassing to have them hold my hand/arm while looking it over and trying all the moveable parts ones…even a working whistle and harmonica! I have the same dice charm you do and the baby buggy as well….

I’ve got three girls…who do I leave it to??? I bought them each one as teens….we didn’t travel a whole lot, so I think they lost interest….maybe it is time to start dividing my charms up to put on theirs? That might be a good work around…hmmm.
