Pat Sloan’s Kitchen Up Do

Sometimes we need a little kitchen “Up-do”. I can see you looking around.. how in the world does she “Up-do” a kitchen?

The definition of an “Up-Do” is

“A hairstyle that involves completely or almost completely arranging hair on top of the head, for example crown braids, buns, ponytails, etc. ”

I think of an “Up-Do” as

  • sprucing up my space a bit (the classic bun)
  • adding a clever and useful piece (fun ponytails)
  • or going all out with a nifty attention getting item. (Can you say a full head of messy braids piled up on top?)

Some projects are so totally simple and well.. irresistible! This Daisy Vase from Spellbinders project is so sweet I can’t stand it. Just take a glass bottle, I bet you have one hidden away somewhere because you know it’s pretty hard to still buy a clear soda bottle! Wrap it with  lovely paper and make a sweet little tag. Then bring the first flowers of spring in the house. Mine will be Daffodils and they will sit next to the kitchen sink!

Every kitchen needs a bulletin board.  Country Living Magazine online has the best tutorials for quick projects, like this exciting message board.  This board is simple and effective. If you like to change the color of your tea-towels, valance, and placements with the seasons, the board can be easily updated!

And the full out attention getting project has to be this silverware mirror.. wow! How clever and frugal! You can shop the thrift stores and garage sales for silverware and have this done in no time flat!  Bev at Flamingo toes is very creative to think this one up… click over for directions and see the other amazing projects she has created

oh… do you remember silverware jewelry? Do you have a nifty use for silverware? Remind me to share my “Fork” necklace someday!

Until next week, go make something!
