Tips to Organize Kid Clutter

Kids are not always the best at picking up after themselves.  But there are ways that we, as adults, can help keep them on the right track.  Here a few stylish ideas to make common spots for kid clutter a little prettier.

Tip 1: Towel hooks. Kids seem to have a difficult time putting towels back on a towel bar.  So give them hooks.   And don’t stop there.  Adding numbers above each hook such as these address numbers from the local hardware store, will help each child remember which hook – and its accompanying towel – is theirs.

Tip 2: Entryway hooks. Entries tend to be a catch all for clutter from the whole family.  Give your entryway a fighting chance by taking the hook idea one step further.  Install hooks and a bench near your main entry and you might be surprised when the coats find their way up off the floor.  If you have non-readers in your family, try adding photos above each hook to indicate whose is whose.

Tip 3: Bins. Kids are not always the best about putting things in drawers.  But bins can be a parent’s best friend.  Easy to get in and out of, bins can make it much easier for kids to find and put away clothing.  Try adding bins to a closet organizing system, and you may just find yourself smiling at the result.
