Houzz Project Inspiration
Our customer, Marlene, installed a 12′ x 14′ Vinyl Ramada in her backyard located in East Hampton, New York.
As you can see in the photo below of her yard, our Ramada is clearly the focal point of the landscape. Her yard was transformed into an oasis where she could enjoy the simple beauty of nature.
Here are some of the other design elements that play a big part in making this landscape work:
When the state ‘New York’ comes to mind, most people instantly drum up thoughts about bustling New York City, but East Hampton is actually about 2.5 hours East of the city in Long Island. While it’s not too far from the city, this landscape doesn’t emit an urban feel at all.
The swimming pool looks natural and the clean landscaping surrounding it makes the water fit in with its surroundings. The stone waterfall to the left plays into this theme of building in elements that seem as if they already existed. Stones are placed here and there to continue the theme throughout.
Creating Outdoor Living Destinations
Marlene created destinations for outdoor living in her Ramada with her bright green furniture and also with two concrete benches lining the pool. While lounge or Adirondack chairs are a popular choice for poolside furniture, the concrete benches provide a place for reflection – to overlook the water and think. It’s also a good technique to use to get people inside the pool, instead of lounging on comfy chairs.
The concrete benches also tie into this landscape’s romantic, traditional feel. Similar to design trends in the late 1800s to early 1900s, this landscape design is intricate and has shape with the pool’s curve and Ramada. You can see the intricacy in the bench legs, the detailed bird feeder, and the addition of quirky decorations like the painted chicken.
Marlene can entertain outdoors in style inside her Ramada shown here with 6″ High Post Trim, a Cupola, Standard Post Height, Dual Black Asphalt Shingles, Standard White Vinyl, and 6″ x 6″ Posts.
