I love summer. I love the warm summer breeze; the long, lazy days; the sweet smell of summer flowers. Unfortunately, summer seems to pass by all too quickly. A trip right now to the local grocery store reveals that retailers are already gearing up for the “back to school” shopping season. Pencils, paper, glue and scissors fill the aisles. So how does a summer-lover, keep the season alive? Luckily, I can enjoy a little bit of the summer season all year long with a simple trip to the florist.
There is nothing quite like having a fresh bouquet of flowers in your home. Not only does it bring in a feeling of summer, but fresh flowers show an attention to detail. They add a feeling of warmth to a space. And flowers have been proven in studies to offer other benefits as well.
For example, studies have shown that flowers can decrease stress. Fresh flowers in a home can increase a person’s sense of well-being. The addition of flowers to a person’s environment can actually help to alleviate depression.
And flowers don’t have to break the bank. Fresh flowers are readily available at the local grocery store for reasonable prices. So the next time you find yourself at the grocery store, make sure and grab yourself a bunch of flowers. Pop them in a pretty vase and add them to your kitchen window, dining room table or entry hall. It’s pretty much a guarantee that they’ll bring a smile to your face. And that’s a big reward for a small investment.
