Let’s Get Organized!

I am one of those “B-O” people.. I like to put it with a dash… and caps.. so you have to guess a bit what the heck I’m taking about… So what does that mean?

“Born Organized”.. yes.. I am.

I am a list maker

A container buyer

And a junkie of anything that can store something.

I’m good at finding ways to organize my stuff.. wink!

So let’s dish some favorite organizational items.

My buddy Carrie of Miss Rosie Quilt Company recently showed me these VERY adorable Organization boxes. They are narrow.. and stack… and seem mighty perfect for many things. Carrie filled with sewing items. How about your beading? Or a place to store tiny tools? It is now on my list of things to get from Office Depot. They come in a black and white design too, in case you are feeling all chic and everything.

Now another thing I’m totally obsessed with is how people organize their crafts. I love when crafters and sewers share their storage ideas, and SUPER love it when they store in adorable containers. I can see a wall of these pretty boxes to store my goodies! The boxes are from the container store, which is a very delightful, and dangerous to the credit card, place to visit. Since I work in my room about 11 hours a day, I like to have a common color theme.. well that is the GOAL of my studio… hehe!

This, my friends, is one of my most favorite items to use for storage– a bread box! It has two shelves inside and I store paper so it is hidden away. A nice old fashion metal breadbox, I love the metal ones. Alas it is my second version… the original somehow was ‘removed’ from the premisses during a major cleaning effort. So, a friend painted this one for me! If you happen to find a PINK bread box that is the ‘shiny’ original color.. buy it.. send it to me… please….. I miss my original one…. *sniff*

What is your favorite organizational item; I want to know!

I’d have to say my fav organizational item is my 4 drawer file cabinet. Has all my quilt valuables in there.

A breadbox! Great idea. Maybe I can find one at a garage sale.

I have been considering buying stock in the company that makes Sterlite plastic storage bins. I may be their best customer!

Marie

I love, love, love to organize too! I get all excited in the area of the store that carries bins etc! My favorite things to use in my sewing room are tins that have sewing motifs and lovely hat boxes or matching boxes that stack from Jo-Ann. They always have new irresistible ones. And of course my other passion is baskets, baskets, baskets-can a girl really have too many?

My favorite is probaly the plastic drawers beside my machine with favorite “quilty” coffee mugs to hold tall tools. I also love notebooks and make lists – then a list to find the list – TMI!!

Beth

I love boxes and bins and baskets. I have to visit the ‘organization’ section of every store every time. My current favorite is clear plastic so that I can see what is inside and I don’t have to open every single box.

My favorite storage item is my large tackle box. It holds all my basic threads, scissors, needles, sewing machine feet, and small sewing gadgets and notions. Whenever I have a class or sewing weekend I can grab my tackle box and know I have all the necessary tools. At home, it sits on the counter next to my machine.

A bread box!!! What a stroke of genius. Now I have to find one…. and, yes, I”ll look for a pink one for you. A trip to the Container Store is on my bucket list. It involves a trip around the Beltway- I have to work my way up to it!

Hubby picked up some old wooden mail slots from a building he was working on. 2 of them Half are shelves and half are mail boxes. The shelves hold all me books and thread boxes. The mail boxes hold fabric folded in 6 inch folds sorted by color(can you say OCD) I can count the folds and know approximately how much is there, without measureing it. or unfolding it.

so excited to see all the new ideas!

I love to reuse the plastic packaging that my curtains come in. I have most of my UFO’s that should be worked on this year stored in them…very easy to see what is inside and I love the zippers on them 🙂

Sandi

I have a wooden bread box that never worked for bread so I used it for notecards, stamps, etc. like a little office. Then I got a little secretary desk and moved the notecard stuff there and the bread box………it is the perfect “garage” for my grandson and his collection of Hot Wheels cars. LOL! He loves it and it will be a few years before I get it back, I’m sure. 🙂

If I were organized I would not have to read organizational tips like yours. LOL I have no fav yet, but I’m thinking about it. Side question: How does anyone type with long fingernails? I have to cut mine.

Ann

Am I the only one who has to work at being organized? I try but sometimes it seems to be a losing battle =(

Diane

Oh, my. I’m fairly organized, but those organization boxes are so cute! I might have to get me some. Thanks for sharing.

I love slotted big boxes for stationery, stackable boxes for crafts and since reading blogs I now need another book case to store my fabrics.

helenmarie

my favorite organizing item are trays… you know… those things that stack on your desk for inboxes and out boxes and….. whatever! I think I have a dozen of them stacked up on my worktable! LOL!
