Inexpensive Ways to Warm up Your Home for Fall

Can you feel it?  There’s a chill in the air.  Fall is finally here.  With cool Autumn mornings and earlier sunsets, now is the perfect time to warm up your house for the coming colder months.  But adding warmth to your home doesn’t need to cost a fortune.  Here are a few inexpensive ideas to cozy up for Autumn.

  1. Add fabric.  Absolutely nothing warms up a space more quickly than the addition of fabric.  This can be as simple as adding some new throw pillows or switching out drapes.  You might even consider adding a new area rug…or layering a smaller rug over your existing one.  Any way you choose to do it, fabric is a quick path to cozy.

2. Switch out artwork or accessories.  A simple change of artwork can make your space feel more fall-ish.  You can be as literal as choosing a fall-themed painting or as subtle as simple changing the color tones of your artwork.  You might also consider adding accessories with more texture such as woven baskets or placemats on a table.  A few simple changes and you’ll quickly be feeling that autumn feeling.

3. Perhaps the most dramatic of the changes I’ve suggested, but still one that is inexpensive, would be to change your wall color.  If you really want to warm up a space fast, try swapping out your existing wall color for one with a richer hue.  Warm browns, reds and golds will have your home feeling like fall in no time, and will carry beautifully right through the winter months.

Whether you’re adventurous or more a bit more cautious, there’s an easy, inexpensive way for anyone to warm up their space for fall.  Go for the fabric, change out your artwork, or whole-heartedly embrace the season by painting your walls.  Whichever way you choose to go, you’ll be ready to bring on that cold weather in your nice, warm home!
