Fun with Chalkboard Paint

Chalkboard paint has taken the decorating world by storm.  And for good reason!  Chalkboards are fun, whimsical and very useful.  Although we typically think of chalkboards as green or black, today’s chalkboard paint comes in a myriad of colors.  So really, the only thing limiting your use of chalkboard paint is your imagination.

Today I wanted to share a little chalkboard paint inspiration with you.  You can use these ideas just as you see them, or use them as a jumping off point for your own creativity.  Either way, I guarantee they’ll bring a smile to your face.

Not brave enough to paint an entire wall with chalkboard paint? Try painting a door instead.   Add a cute basket to the doorknob to hold chalk and an eraser, and you’ll have a great spot for kids to be creative or a fabulous family message center.

Or try this fun take on a message board.  Find an inexpensive silver tray.  (The dollar store routinely carries imitation silver trays).  Then just paint the center of the tray with chalkboard paint.  Prop up the dried tray on a small photo easel, and you’ll have an unexpectedly pretty way to share messages.

For a really unique way to use chalkboard paint, try painting an entire piece of furniture with some of the fun colored chalkboard paints currently available.  Here, a bench painted with red chalkboard paint acts as a great drop-off spot for gifts at a birthday party.

So what are you waiting for?  Try any or all of these chalkboard paint ideas and you’ll have some great new ways to add a little fun to your décor.
