Create a Functional Outdoor Living Space

Outdoor Living continues to prevail as a major trend as consumers remodel backyard patios and add on outdoor kitchens to make the outdoor experience more pleasurable. Outdoor rooms are an extension of the family, living and recreational rooms. Expansive doorways are helping to make a seamless transition from the interior of the home to the exterior living space. It has never been easier to coordinate outdoor furniture, fabrics and trims. People are mixing and matching solid fabrics with patterned designs, while adding textures, fringes, bullion, cording and tassels.

Enhancing your outdoor living space with today’s fabrics is as simple as recovering cushions, adding soft accessories in the form of throw pillows, and embellishing with outdoor drapes that bring warmth to the space.

The purpose of having an outdoor living space is, of course, to spend additional time outdoors. However, most people also construct one to draw friends and family over for social gatherings. Covered decks and patios are enjoyable for spending long-lasting intervals of time outdoors and can be used virtually year round.  Supplemental lighting and ceiling fans can be included to benefit from those warm evenings in the summer months while dining or entertaining guests outdoors.

Adding a summer kitchen to your outdoor patio is the perfect thing to consider now that the weather is getting nicer. The actual cooking area is important, so consider the different amenities that you may want to utilize like cooking grills, griddles, rotisseries, ovens and warmers. Outdoor kitchens can also include sinks, refrigerators, freezers and wine coolers.

Create an outdoor space that adds value. Consider constructing an enclosure or designated space such as a seating area that your guests can lounge in and feel as if they are in another room in your home. Pergolas are also a favored selection for outdoor living spaces since they provide a designated space that still has that wide-open feeling with an abundance of sunshine. Covered decks and patios are also enjoyable for spending prolonged duration of time outdoors and can be used almost year round.

A lovely fountain promotes a positive flow of energy. A garden fountain is not only luxurious but acts as a source of tranquility and relaxation. The balmy sound of cascading water can be a tremendous stress reliever and an attractive addition to your garden and backyard.

Upgrade your backyard paradise right now. Don’t wait until summer is in full swing. What are you doing to improve your outdoor living space? I’d love to know.
